Steam Extraction Method (Hot Water Extraction)
The H.W.E system is the most common system used or otherwise known as hot water extraction is the
carpet cleaning method recommended by many carpet fibre manufacturers and carpet mills.
Recommendations include periodic thorough cleaning of carpets carried out by well-trained and
experienced carpet cleaning personnel. The hwe system is the method of deep cleaning carpets fibres.
Hot water extraction has also been called "steam cleaning" but actual live steam (gas created at waters
boiling point) just isn't employed in the cleaning process. Hot water extraction is a deep cleaning process
which removes embedded soils that have been carried or blown to the carpet.
A hot water carpeting extractor, whether a portable or perhaps truck mounted, has a pump which usually
dispenses water, under pressure, through spray nozzles to the carpet and a high powered vacuum
system which vacuums the dirty water into a recovery tank within the actual carpet extractor.
We recommend this process of hot water extraction for carpet repair. This system includes a three step
process:
Pre-vacuum the full carpet area with a superior quality dual motor vacuum of backpack vacuum with a
minimum of 105 CFM vacuum motor.
Pre-spray carpeted area having a pre-treat and traffic lane cleaner, one that is not really too strong (or too
alkaline). They may damage the actual carpet. A ph. of 10.5 or less is preferred for many carpets. Traffic
lane pre-spotter regarding heavily soiled areas is recommended. Waiting the recommended time before
you begin the cleaning process.
A complete rinse with domestic hot water is used. This is accomplished with the addition of an
acid/neutralizer to the solution tank of the carpeting extractor. No other cleaner/detergent is employed for
this process. The clean, softened, hot water is dispersed in to the carpet fibres through squirt nozzles.
The spray rinses just about all added chemicals, cleaners, and dirt into an attached high powered vacuum
shoe that sucks the filthy solution back in a storing tank around the extraction unit. The removed soil is
held within the tank until it might be disposed of later in the sanitary drain, toilet, or proper waste facility.
Solutions should not be dumped onto the floor outside, in storm sewers, or in the roads.
When carpet is extracted while using hot water extraction method, we recommend you stick to these
important procedures:
Vacuum the area to become extracted thoroughly, before using the extraction equipment. A cleaning
